CALL FOR PAPERS NOW CLOSED
Aim
The mission of the Music in Schools and Teacher Education Commission (MISTEC) is to promote the development of research and innovations in theory and practice in the fields of music teaching in schools and teacher education. The Commission serves to support, develop and maintain international collaboration, coalitions and strategic alliances and exchange of pedagogical resources, innovative teaching approaches and experiences among professionals and institutions from around the world. The aim of the MISTEC Pre-Conference seminar is to engage participants, presenters, and commissioners in enriching dialogues and in hands-on experiences related to school music teaching and learning and to music teacher education by exploring current best practices and research.
As part of the inclusive, boutique-style pre-conference seminar that MISTEC is renowned for, we provide support for accommodation and food for presenters of spoken papers and workshops, and not posters. Accordingly, full attendance and participation in the pre-conference seminar is expected of all presenters. This facilitates a ‘shared purpose and understanding’, that enables the Commission to have a sustainable and ongoing impact beyond the conference period. Additionally, in 2020, to encourage presentation from areas where funding is not available for travel, we will have 3 travel awards available (to the value of US$1,200 each) to accepted paper and workshop presenters. Those wishing to be considered for the travel awards must indicate as such in their submission. See Section 1.1; Spoken Paper Requirements and 2.1; Workshop Requirements below*
The ISME Music In Schools and Teacher Education Commission (MISTEC) Pre-Conference Seminar 2020 encourages submissions focused around the theme of Broadening Access To And Engagement With Music Education. This theme supports the main ISME conference theme of Visions of Equity and Diversity. Accepted workshop and paper presentations from around the world will highlight ways to extend current theoretical and educational thinking, together with exchanging innovative practical approaches for music education and teacher education. The collaboration fostered through this intimate, dialogic seminar enables the shared development of educational policies and practices geared towards ensuring quality music education for all children.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURES
The online submission system must be used. This system will be available to ISME members through the ISME conference website which will link with the members website to check membership. Every presenter or co-presenter must be an individual ISME member at the time of submission, at the time of acceptance and at the time of presenting. (If electronic submission is impossible, please contact the ISME International Office by September 30, 2019.)
