The purpose of the Policy Commission Seminar is to bring together scholars from around to world to examine and explore issues concerning culture, education, and media policy development and implementation. We do this by providing participants the opportunity to share their research and scholarly work in presentations and discussions. In the current global political climate, opportunities for scholars and experts to engage with each other are vital for the continued growth and understanding of the intersections of policy and music education.
We welcome proposals on all policy topics, including the theme of Advocacy for Sustainability in Music Education |
Welcome to the 2024 Policy Commission! The Commission on Policy: Culture, Education and Media invites submissions for our pre-conference seminar, which will be held at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland from July 23-26. We welcome submissions on any policy-related topic, including advocacy and policies that foster sustainable music education practices.

Helsinki is a beautiful, small city. On the Baltic Sea and with lots of inlets, bays and islands it is very much a city of water. In the summer, when we will be there, you can find a wonderful open air food market right on the waterfront, where the tourist boats travel out to the islands.
